Trying to stay positive...

So I was on a roll for a bit with blog posts...

Last week happened and I didn't have the time or energy to post anything!  Let me just be honest and say that the last two weeks have sucked royally!  Not only did Jeff pass away but his mother Denise was hospitalized with a possible heart attack.  I just found out that she didn't have any blockage but she does have damage to the bottom of the heart.  I am praying for her constantly.  My niece Amanda (Jeffrey's wife) is another person who could use LOTS of thoughts and prayers.  Sunday we walked (okay well Larry and I rode in a car) in the Arnold Days Parade for my brother in law's cab company.  We all wore blue and white beads in honor of Jeff.  When we walked past Wendy Amanda (sorry Wendy is Larry's nickname for her) we each took off our white beads and placed them around her neck.  Since Larry and I were in the car I gave mine to her once we got to the park.  While at the park I tried not to cry while realizing that Jeff would have been there.  Larry & Jeff never missed that parade together and last year we all stood in the rain for the parade.  If we had only known it would be our last parade together...

This morning driving to work I may have found the silver lining...Literally!  The clouds over Arnold were fairly dark and icky.  A hole formed in one of the clouds and the sun was shining through creating the most beautiful rays of light.  I have to believe that God was showing us that bright beautiful rays of light can come from dark nasty days.

I may take off blogging for a couple of more days but I will be back.

Dear God,

Today I pray for my family.  1st I would like to ask for you to put your loving embrace around Amanda & Jeff's three children.  They will have a hard road ahead of them but they can face it together even though nothing will ever be the same without their Dad I pray that they will find that silver lining and see him shining through it.

Please also protect and give patience to Amanda.  No wife should ever have to lose her husband so young.  Please grant her peace of mind and a will and determination to keep on moving even when she feels like all the hope is lost.

Last but not least I bring my sister Denise to you Lord.  Please help heal her broken heart.  I can't imagine ever losing a child.  I just pray that although the wounds will never heal 100% that you would at least make them a little less difficult to manage.  I pray that you let her see his memory around us and that she will find comfort in that!

In Jesus Christ's Holy Name, Amen!

Last Week

I wish that today's post could be something funny or light hearted but it's just not.

Last Sunday the 9th my nephew Jeffrey passed away.  He would have been 30 on the 15th and he left behind a wife and three small kids.

Jeff was not only my husbands nephew but good friend.  Wait no they were best friends.  Jeff spent a lot of time with Larry when they would DJ local bars and what not.

Jeff's legacy will always lie with his children.  You could say what you want about him but one thing you could NEVER dispute was that he was a great father and uncle.

This past week we are left with nothing but memories.  We will hold those memories near to our hearts and will NEVER forget!

Five of my favorite things...

So I was inspired by a blog I saw recently.  This is a post of my top five favorite things.

Here we go:
StyleHouse Flat Iron

This has to be the best the flat iron that I have personally ever owned.  Please let me remind you that I am CHEAP!  I have never owned a CHI even though I really want one.  I just refuse to spend that kind of money with six kids.  Anyway Larry bought this for me from a friend that was selling them and I love the floating plates.  No more pulling my hair out with this straightener.

Got 2 B Guardian Angel
Flat Iron Balm

Let me just say for the record that my friend and stylist Sharon will be thankful that I finally got something to protect my hair from heat damage.  Once again remember that I am cheap so I went to Walgreens looking for a heat protectant and tried several before I finally decided on this one.  The biggest factor for me is the smell.  I am easily irritated by certain smells and this one is light and leaves my hair feeling smooth and managable.

Beyonce Heat

I seriously wear this fragrance EVERY single day.  I am panicked that I am getting near to the end of my current bottle and need to replace it immediately.  Since I am so easily irritated by certain scents I am always on the look out for light/clean fragrance and I think Beyonce picked a winner with this one!  Love how clean it smells and Larry loves it too!  I had wanted it for a long time and he surprised me with my first bottle of it.  Try it and I am sure you will love it too.

Scentsy Rooster Warmer w/Hazelnut Latte Bar

First let me say that my mother bought my husband this warmer for Christmas last year and we both just love it.  I have had other candle warmers in the past and none come close to Scentsy.  Normally I buy the Baked Apple Pie Scentsy Bars but at the last party I went to I also added Hazelnut Latte and fell in love instantly!  This easily makes three rooms in my house smell good all at once.  Believe it or not the warmer is just a lightbulb under there and therefore it is completely safe to have with our four year old.  I mean it gets warm but I touched it last night and it didn't burn me.  Now DON'T go sticking your fingers in the wax or touching the thing I was just letting you know that I am personally comfortable with the temperature of this item.

Cardy Uggs - Pool Blue

Last but certainly not least we have the Cardy Uggs in Pool Blue.  I DO NOT have these.  I am still coveting them from my good friend Michelle.  She has them in pink and they are soooo cute.  If anyone feels the need to drop a bunch of money on me feel free to buy me these in either blue or grey size 8.  Just Kidding!  Seriously though I want these and must have them this winter.  My girls got Uggs last year and they love how comfortable they are.  I texted Michelle just today to verify that she absolutely LOVED her Uggs and she assured me that she did.

So now you all know a little more about the things I love maybe next time I'll do a "Five things I hate..." post!

A Special Day...

To one of the greatest men I know:

Larry, you are the greatest father and husband I ever could have asked for.  I am so excited to spend everyday of the rest of my life telling you how much I love you!

<3 you baby!

Happy Birthday!
